Usage of AI Services

For an introduction on what AI Services are, please see Overview and setup.

Use of the AI Services involves metered usage. AI Services may include a limited amount of included free usage and/or additional credits subject to fees as set forth in applicable Orders.

Included Usage and Dataiku AI Credits

AI Services use a credits-based model.

Every paid Designer seat benefits from Monthly Included Usage. Usage can be extended through the purchase of Dataiku AI Credits.

Monthly Included Usage is specific to each Designer and is not poolable across developers. Monthly Included Usage replenishes on the first calendar day of each month.

Once a user’s Monthly Included Usage is over, their usage consumes Dataiku AI Credits. If there are no Dataiku AI Credits left available for the Customer, Cobuild and other AI Services usage is blocked for this user until Monthly Included Usage regenerates on the first day of the next month.

To purchase Dataiku AI Credits, please contact your Dataiku Account Executive or Customer Success Manager

Monitoring usage

Administrators can monitor usage of AI Services by going in Admin > AI Services.

This shows, for each user, how much they have consumed of their Monthly Included Usage and Dataiku AI Credits, as well as the remaining balance of Dataiku AI Credits.

“Unknown user” in usage monitoring

You may see “Unknown user” entries appear in the per-user monitoring.

To limit the personal data that we process, the billing system does not know the actual logins of the user, but a hash of it. When the monitoring UI fetches the usage data from the billing system, it receives the hashes and matches them to users that exist on the instance.

If the user does not exist on the current instance, we can’t match it. It is however still shown, so that on each instance, admins have the full view of their AI Services usage.

In other words, “Unknown user” appearing in usage monitoring means that this corresponds to usage done by users that only exist on other instances of Dataiku, but not on the current one.

Usage consumption

The actual consumption (for both Included Usage and Dataiku AI Credits) of metered actions varies depending on a number of factors, notably including:

  • The action itself. For example, Cobuild consumes more usage than Generate Metadata

  • The prompt of the user and the complexity of the environment. For example, Cobuild will consume more when working on very large projects

The following are indicative examples of what usage typical actions may consume. Please keep in mind that these numbers may vary a lot.

  • Generating SQL code to answer a business query with SQL Assistant: 0.1 to 5 credits

  • Explaining a Flow: 0.1 to 10 credits

  • Asking Cobuild help with a specific part of a Flow: 1 to 10 credits

  • Asking Cobuild to build a Flow from input data to answer a business need: 5 to 50 credits
