Managing starter code¶
This guide outlines the lifecycle of starter code in the Enterprise Asset Library: creating the template, reviewing it, updating it, and using it when creating notebooks, web apps, and code agents.
Creating starter code¶
To create starter code, you must have Contributor rights on the specific collection where you wish to add the asset.
Open the Enterprise Asset Library. Click into the target Collection. There are two ways to start creating starter code:
Standard Method: Click “New Asset” in the top right corner and select “Create starter code” from the dropdown menu.
Empty State Method: If the collection does not contain any starter code yet, navigate to the Starter Code tab. A “Create starter code” button will be available in the center of the screen.
When creating starter code, select one of the following template types:
Notebooks: Define the notebook language and template kind, such as a standalone notebook, a dataset notebook, a pre-built notebook, or a notebook for retrievable knowledge.
Web apps: Define the web app type and its associated code and configuration files. Supported types include Bokeh, Dash, Shiny, Standard, and Streamlit.
Code Agents: Define the Python agent code and its quick-test configuration.
Provide the template metadata, including its title, description, tags, type, and version, as well as the code or files required by the selected template type. Click “Create” to save the new asset. The starter code will immediately appear inside the Starter Code tab.
Viewing and editing starter code¶
Starter code is managed directly within the Starter Code tab of a Collection. The actions available to you depend on your permission level for that specific collection. Users with Reader rights can browse the Starter Code tab and click on any template to view its full details. Users with Contributor rights can edit existing starter code. Click on the template in the list to open the details modal. Modify the fields directly within the modal. Click “Update” to save your changes.
Using starter code¶
Starter code to which you have access is available when creating the corresponding asset in DSS:
Notebook templates are available when creating notebooks.
Web app templates are available when creating web apps.
Code Agent templates are available when creating code agents.
You can access and use any starter code stored in a collection where you hold at least Reader rights.
