Getting started with Agent Management¶
An administrator first connects Agent Management to one or more agent platforms. Agent owners and risk managers can then enrich, monitor, and assess the discovered agents.
The usual setup sequence is:
Create a platform for each agent provider to monitor. Select or create the Dataiku project that stores the platform’s backing datasets and Flows.
Configure credentials and the scan schedule in the platform settings.
Run an agent scan and confirm that the expected agents appear.
Decide which discovered agents to manage. Managed agents are included in monitoring and data collection according to the platform and agent settings.
Configure the available data collection: agent logs, platform metrics, and uptime tests.
Add business context such as display name, description, business process, team, and tags.
Configure alerts for the applicable universal, platform, scope, or agent targets.
Associate risks and complete the risk assessment.
Build and attach KPIs that connect agent behavior to business outcomes.
For an OpenTelemetry Receiver, configure the telemetry sender instead of a platform connection and scan. Agents can be discovered from received traces or registered manually.
Note
Discovery, log collection, operational metrics, usage metrics, cost, and agent structure are platform-dependent. An unavailable metric does not necessarily indicate a collection failure. Check the platform and agent Activity pages to distinguish unsupported data from failed collection.
Agent lifecycle¶
Agents use the following lifecycle states:
- Discovered
The agent was found during a platform scan but has not been brought under active management.
- Managed
The agent is included in Agent Management oversight. Configured telemetry collection and monitoring apply to it.
- Ignored
The agent is excluded from normal management and future discovery processing. A scan does not delete an agent that is no longer found; the inventory preserves its record and discovery state.
- Archived
The agent is retained for historical purposes but is no longer part of the active inventory.
